An alien attack from outer space threatens the Earth Union’s space stations. The Union’s elite squad – Libera Wing – is sent out to protect the Union from alien aggression and regain control of the lost stations.
The new approach of LW to the tower defense style creates a new gaming experience worthy of playing . Unlike the classic TD games based solely upon defense, LW adds an attack phase. Therefore, each level is played twice: first, recapture the space stations and then defend them against wave upon wave of aliens.
In LW, the fleet is built up and items are collected continuously throughout the game. Both of these have a major role in the game: a large fleet will perform better and a special item used at the right time will save the day. The plentitude of items and the ever growing difficulty of the levels will challenge even an experienced player for quite a few evenings. And even then, he can improve his performance and save both the fleet and the items for the games demandingfinale.
The player undertakes the role of captain of Libera Wing commanding the Libera Wing squadron with the mission of retaking the lost space stations and defeating the incoming alien hordes. These are the 2 major game play objectives in 2 phases: attack and defense. The difficulty of the game increases continuously from the pick’n'play starting levels to the demanding late game levels.
In the attacking phase of each level, the mission objective is to capture the headquarters of the space station. Once the headquarters are retaken, the player takes control of the towers guarding the space station as well.
The player leads his Command Ship and the Nanohives through the station’s platform. The path is well guarded: it requires a strategic approach in the beginning, and fast action during the later portion of each level. . Remember, the player may choose to destroy a tower, but then he can’t use it in the following defending phase.
The defending phase is closer to the classic tower defense approach: the waves of enemies are trying to break through the defense system of the space station. The player uses his Nanohives and Command Ship and supports the remaining towers. Only the firepower of the Command Ship, the supporting Nanohives and the useful items together have a chance to destroy all of the enemies, but be careful as you gather items as some of them have a limited duration. It is crucial to collect the green essence that drops from the aliens – it is used to build new Nanohives.
With a plentitude of items, 16 types of enemies and special abilities of the enemy boss used in 36 story levels and an additional 24 quickplay levels, Libera Wing provides hoursof fun – not just for classic tower defense fans, but to players who prefer a lot of action as well.
